Boom! Another Wild Foods Festival both barrels right at ya. A big day out for all - congrats to all the stallholders, beer pourers and barby-crankers, dresser-uppers and get-it-downyers - between us all 2012 was another Wild Foods to remember.
A wee pat on the back to The Curly Tree making another walk onstage - this year for 'Best new Food and Drink', the 'Loose Unit' debuting well at Hokitika. What's in a 'Loose Unit' you ask? Imagine a handful of delicious whitebait, scattered on the hot plate with a pinch of smoked garlic salt (Christchurch based Smoke and Spice Co. - cheers Marcus), then served in a crisp, fresh lettuce leaf and topped with a few drops of mint sauce. By the end of the day there were Loose Units eating Loose Units, even one of two loose units serving them up....
Speaking of which, big ups and max 'spects to our team on the day - Rach and Rob, Bridget and Trav, and Jan Boedicia herself getting amongst it to help bring us home. And to The Rockmaidens - Heidi and Holly. It's all about whanau - chur.
It's blowing a sunny southerly here at The Waita today so Moana and I are catching up on a few chores and taking a breath after the weekend. Already planning for the next 'new' Wild Foods 2013 food...if you're getting to Clyde Wine and Food festival on the 8th of April - yep this Easter - you'll get a sneak preview
Thanks again to all at The Wild Foods - Mike and Cassie all the Wild Foods Team.
See you at The Curly Tree real soon
Tony and Moana
